This is the remake of the 1968 John Wayne classic, though this version follows the book more closely. Jeff Bridges does an outstanding job as Marshal Rooster Cogburn. He is gritty and mean. Hailee Steinfeld is perfect for the role of Mattie Ross. …more»0 of 1 people found this review helpful-

I wasn't interested in seeing this movie until I saw that it was made by the Coen brothers. What new twist would they give to this classic Western? What added dimensions would there be to the characters, the settings, even the music?
