Transamerica(2005)- User Reviews

I applaud the film-makers for tackling an ambitious movie about an interesting topic that most Americans simply do not understand and that ignorant rednecks don't want to understand. That being said even though I thought Felicity Huffman did an excellent job playing a transexual, I think it would have been more powerful to see an actual transexual in that role. Seeing Felicity who is a well known woman from Desparate Housewives playing a man who is a transexual seemed to be sort of an odd choice. The Zac Efron look-a-like was pretty good as the son, though perhaps a bit too much of a model to be believable. The story which was very good overall was slow in parts. The ending was a bit of a let down, would have liked to see Felicity end up with the Indian man who had a crush on her in the end. Like I said, a lot of positives, but some negatives too, overall good and worth seeing but could have been better. Shame on the ignorant people who treat these people poorly simply because they are different. Its sad that there are still so many stupid people out there who dislike transexuals, gay, lesbian, or bisexual people.
