The fatal flaw is that it was not relatable. In this world being forty means having an awesome body, import luxury cars, a personal trainer, access to weed, an awesome house with a pool, well-adjusted teen/pre-teens, and the time to whine about what organic food to eat. Boo Hoo.
Its people with no problems acting as if the world is coming to the end.
Apatow makes a feeble attempt at turning suppporting characters into main ones. He forgets that they need more development to make that work. They become unappreciative and unlikeable to the point I wished I hadn't buried myself in the middle of an aisle so I could have left.
Perhaps the termination of the Mayan calendar would help these characters appreciate what they have. This ending was utterly pointless.
Sadly Django was so much more consistently funny and authentic. This was a comic graphic novel of what rich ($250k) plus people deal with.
