The reason I loved this movie is because it is about people you don't often get to learn about in current movies. A middle-aged professor; young artists in love who are in NY as "illegals," and a middle-aged woman who looks her age and is still beautiful.
The pace of the movie requires paying attention. The director assumes that viewers have brains, no long-winded exposition but rather a story told through action and atmosphere.
As a native New Yorker, the setting and how it was filmed felt real, the noise, dirt, color and spirit of the city came through. The acting was terrific. Nothing showy, the actors were generous towards one another.
