A Connecticut professor makes an unintended visit to his New York apartment. There he meets and befriends a couple, both illegals - a Syrian drummer and a Senegalese jewelry maker. The drummer is picked up by the police and the story develops into the human consequences of post 9/11 US. Jenkins performance was wonderful. His near mid life crisis transformation from a disillusioned professor to a man of understated passion was believable and moving. All actors put on very convincing performances. A predictable ending could have been stronger. The movie made frequent points but very subtly. Brilliant.
