I remember seeing the trailers before this hit the theatres...telling myself i gotta go check that one out when it hits the big screen. Needless to say i never got around to it, flipping through DirectTv guide i saw it so i recorded it to watch when i had the chance. Checked it out a few hours ago...not bad at all.
Im not exactly what you would call a movie critic, i dont make it a point to nitpick each and every facet of a film (like some friends of mine do constantly). Honestly, i just like a good story and acting...both of which i think were good in the case of "The Village". I liked the story line as well as the slower pace of the movie which led me to be kept in suspense the entire time. I think Shyamalan did a decent job here, definitely not a flop in my opinion.
As far as the acting goes, very good in my eyes. Heck, i completely forgot that the movie had such a good overall cast. Adrien Brody does very well at playing the part of a mentally challenged?? Noah, Jacquin Phenoix was good in his own role, Sigourney Weaver not bad...and to me i think Dallas Bryce Howard plays the part of Ivy exceptionally well! Never seen much of her work but the entire movie i couldnt help but be impressed.
Ok sorry so long, all in all...glad i waited this long to see it. Had i saw it in the theater, i may very well have came out disappointed because the trailer did make it seem more intense. After waiting 7 years to view it i think it tempered my expectations and i went in with an open mind.
