The slasher genre really does owe it all to this film. This is the first, and possibly the best slasher flick out there. Ultimately, to me, this movie isn't about being scared, but about how realistic, yet sadistic it can be at the same time. Not many slasher horrors these days are as realistic as this one... if anything like this were to ever happen in reality there would never be a big, dramatic climax... instead the people that survive would be glad they made it out alive, not proving themselves that they can take on derranged lunatics. This film stays true to itself and to that slasher formula.
