"... could have been a masterpiece if someone like Robert Rodriquez directed it and if this was also rated R instead of PG-13. The Spirit just wasn't a PG-13 type of movie and it should have had a stronger rating. It wasn't just those elements that made this a terrible film. There were other aspects such as how nothing was really taken seriously and this also had a lot of stupid and cheesy moments. It could have been a great movie, but the filmmakers just f**ked-up big time. Gabriel Macht, the actor who played The Spirit, the hero vigilante, sounded way too much like Bruce Willis from Sin City and it just sort of felt like a rip-off. I'm sure that this wasn't intended at all, but that's just how his character came of as. Speaking of Sin City, The Spirit may also have a similar kind of style, but it's definitely not in the same league as that film. Sin City is a classic, but this movie was just a disappointing box-office failure. In conclusion, The Spirit is a very dull film and I suggest that you just skip it and rent something better instead."
