Pedro engenders sex talk

Pedro Almodovar has taken the novel "Tarantula" by Thierry Jonquet and brought it to the screen in "The Skin I Live In". The brilliant good Dr. is played by Antonio Banderas, lives for the life of his beautiful wife who has been severely burned in a car fire. Banderas keeps his wife alive working tirelessly developing an artificial skin at home in his sophisticated laboratory to bring back her beauty.

This film delves into the several discussions, one on gender disphoria, gender conditioning, sex and sexuality and most important the promise of love. The other discussion is about Trauma and its effect on personality.

What will happen when a subject is taken against their will having a sex change forced upon them? If a person's sex is physically altered, will their inner desires, talent, and personality change too?

Revenge and family ties play a strong role in this film. Fetish and Kinky abound in this film.

Pedro Almodovar aims directly at his targets and hits dead center. This is a simply told story, done with great style and imagination.

All in all, this is very beautiful film by Pedro Almodovar but it may not be for everyone (sadly) but anyone who loves or even likes great film making should see "The Skin I Live In".
