The Scarlet Letter.
The words suggest a sweeping romance on the scale of Romeo and Juliet.
This is what I expected when I rented the movie in January of 2000.
(And even before then when I saw the poster).

This was simply a crime of a movie. Gary Oldman's excellent acting couldn't even save it. I read Hawthorne's book 4 years before this was made, he probably rolled over in his grave!more»0 of 1 people found this review helpful-

I decided to watch this movie because it was on network television and I was bored. Anyway I was totally suprised that I enjoyed anything about this movie. However I did! It was not the best movie ever and I have seen alot worse also.
