A clever novella about media manipulation is massacred into a formulaic action thriller in The Running Man. Ben Richards is a military official framed for murder. That is up until he is given the opportunity to win his freedom back in violent game show The Running Man. If one can't guess already, The Running Man is more than a tad short of a story when it's novella was full of an exciting one (he never actually played in the novella). The action scenes are campy but still entertaining for those looking for an escapist film. The really bad Schwartzenegger one-liners are also present in much more excess than most Schwartzenegger movies. Schwartzenegger-fans may like it but for everyone else may just want to keep away.
