Cusack was very good in this movie. Probably his second best acting job to "Identity". I really enjoyed "The Raven". My wife didn't really like it, but then again all she likes are Romantic Comedies. I finally got to chose the movie.

Cusack was wonderful, as always, but plot sometimes slow or went for the gory shock value (can we give this a rest please?). Husband and I agreed it lacked good direction. Disappointment in general, though still worth the price of admission.

hardly any gore I thought. Other than the one scene I can't think of anything really "gory."

Cusak was pretty good, but his best acting was in 16 Candles

Thanks for your mature, well informed review. When I mentioned the movie to a classroom filled with 10th and 11th graders, much to my dismay, they said, "Who is Poe?" My retort, "Who is Snookie?" They all answered in unison. It is a sad world sometimes.

If they made it to the 11th grade and they have not yet studied Edgar Allen Poe's incredible works, then either our educational system is broken or their teachers need to be replaced, or both.

I never studied Poe as a kid but at least I knew who he was and I was familiar with The Raven.

So teach them. The Raven is a good place to start. My 6th graders loved it.

David G., not sure what kind of movie you thought you were going to see, but I thought this movie was pretty true to the trailer and previews. If you are looking for a "smash-em' up, car-chasin', womanizing" action flick, then you're not gonna find it in this movie. If you enjoyed Sherlock Holmes or the Woman in Black, you will most likely enjoy The Raven as well.

Geez! What movie did you go to. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it kind of makes me wonder if you even saw it. It was an awesome movie, with great actors.

    "Cusack's acting skills are improving."

This statement alone says this reviewer does not know what she is talking about. Who else is better than John Cusack? Zac Efron?

This movie isn't for everyone but I found it a fun murder mystery movie

You I'm not even going to read your review because you spoiled the freaking movie in your first few sentences- and I simplly looked on the side of the page!

Cami shoudl be banned from writing reviews if she/he is going to give away the freaking ending like that! Seriously how was I suppose to know SPOILER---- that this follows his final days!!!----END OF SPOILER
    • PBJR 26 days ago
It's no spoiler that this film takes place during Poe's final days. It's been well publicized and it's the first shot in the movie.

Yeah found that out yesterday when I saw it. Still a stupid idea if you ask me. Why not put that line as he looks up and dies?

I wasn't able to find Cami's review. I welcome a spoiler, as I started out biased against it, and now have been persuaded to not see it.

I think you need to aquire more objectivity. John Cusack is a good actor and deserves more credit for his talent as an actor then you give him. He's certaintly been in many crediable acting roles after the year 2000. Not many can say they have been paid millions for there acting roles. He must be doing something right, he's been in fifty-some acting roles. Give him a little respect. He's accomplished more in his life time then the majority of actors have.

Could not disagree more...thought Cusak and the film were excellent..very entertaining,,,,.it was graphic but riveting...the period settings, costumes, etc were great too. I liked it much more than the higher grossing Avengers....Do not miss this movie.

Being an English graduate, one would think you could spell "ceased" without a problem.
