I've read a lot of the reviews for this movie and I get the impression that most of the people reviewing lack critical thinking skills. I thought this movie was erratic, predictable, and full of plot holes.
First off, the only good character is Tiana, the hard working, intelligent and level-headed waitress and pancake maker. She has one song that I really like (listening to it right now) called Almost There. So she wants enough money to open up her IHOP and fulfill her Daddy's dream. Not a bad premise. She kisses a talking frog and gets turned into a frog herself. It's all downhill from there. In the midst of a bunch of boring, forced and pointless songs, the frogs need to find the blonde girl so they can turn back into humans. No Spoilers.
I absolutely hated the prince. Lazy, broke because of constant partying, and lying to Tiana all the time, and she falls in love with him? Why? Because he cut a mushroom for the soup? Give me a break. Absolutely the most forced and unbelievable love story Disney has made.
The alligator was a pointless character and rather annoying to me. The three stooges in the bayoo were meant to be funny, but were more stupid than anything.
If someone steps on a bug it should be flat and dead afterward. I know it's for kids but this wasn't the tale of superbug.
The Shadow Man was actually a pretty good villain. He song and sequence Friends on the Other Side was the best animation in the movie and grabbed my attention.
In short, it's made for girls 8 to 10 years old and of course for black people. But if you gave this movie a good review, pretend the main characters were white and then review it again. This movie disappointed me.
