As a child who grew up the 60's, I got to see a lot of Saturday afternoon Disney movies and its been a while since Disney made a movie like this.
A typical Disney movie always has some element of magic in it and this film is no exception; a child born from the earth designed by a couple to be their "perfect child."
The performances are fine; there's even a childhood crush as part of the plot development and the cast seems well chosen for this film. The movie requires you to accept the magical elements with out question and if you can do this, then the film will work for you.
Though its a bit on the "sweet side" for most of the film, the ending is bittersweet and tugs at your emotions. A good film that can appeal to both young people and their parents.
