The Odd Life of Timothy Green(2012)- User Reviews

Disappointing, but not terrible.

I had really high hopes for this movie and was left quite disappointed.

First, the movie was very predictable. The opening with social workers pretty much gives the ending away, but it still could have worked.

Second, the life experiences depicted, especially the soccer game, were about as predictable as picking the direction the sun will rise in tomorrow with a compass in your hand.

Third, the whole love interest with the girl a foot taller than Timothy was never believable. And that thing they built is well...incomprehensible in its relevance.

Last, we all know the importance of the leaves on his legs 20 minutes into the movie.

There just were no surprises or build up to a meaningful climax to the movie which left the whole thing flat for me.

Now for the good:

I thought the boy playing Timothy showed great promise as an actor....I bought his character completely. Beyond him the acting was weak, but then I've always thought Garner's acting seemed forced when emotions were called. I loved her in Alias when it was action based, but since then I've been disappointed. Other roles could've been played by anyone with an equal lack of being memorable.

I enjoyed the denouement involving the leaves (I won't spoil it). It was a nice wrap up to the movie, but after such a weak climax it seemed like a rather canned Hollywood ending.

Last, where can I get one of those new pencils!

I really wanted to give 2.5 stars, it's not quite worthy of 3 stars, but 2 stars is more of a stinker than this ended up being.
