I've seen almost every version of this book ever made. And if you like the cutesy, cuddly, looney toons type animation.... then this is NOT the one for you.

Peter Jackson's fils are much better. J.R.R. Tolkien's Fantasy Epic is wasted in this animated film.

The lazy animation (film of real people and
horses, with penciling on top) is a turn-off.
However, most scenes are IMHO quite good, and it
looks to me as if Peter Jackson has used (stolen)
lots of ideas from this movie for his own
