Not Mr Depp's finest hour

star22

The opening gave moments of hope, Johnny Depp appears amusingly as the Earl of Rochester, humour that does not last through the film.

The Earl's brilliant mind (although countless flaws were clear) focusses on a young actress and his determination to turn her into one of the best. He does this, and it turns out to be his downfall. Sadly this interesting idea was marred by poor acting and unneccersary amounts of in your face sexual images that added nothing whatsoever to the film except to increase the rating the film got which appears to be the real aim of this film.

The thing for me that characterises this film is the fact I simply did not care about the characters or the storyline. Johnny Depp is far better than this, this film will rightly sink without trace.
