The Innkeepers(2012)- User Reviews

Could have been a really good low budget movie

star11

The opening scene of the movie showed photos of the peddlar in its hey day and opened with Sara Paxton crossing the street into the inn with a big round of applause coming from the audience - went downhill after that - movie was unfocused throughout - some simple shadows on the walls or floors, hanging pictures suddenly moving, curtains blowing now & then, & a few more creepy noises would have made the movie a bit more interesting - the most exciting part of it was the false alarm that sent everyone out of the Warner Theater in Torrington for a few minutes. So much more could have been done in this movie without Steven Speilberg-like special effects. It was also so slow in parts - camera on one scene or particular object for too long.

I really wanted to see this film in theaters, it looked so good and I was surprise when I saw it was available to rent after only having been in theaters less than 3 months ago. Then I watched it and understood why. This article could not be any more true! It could have been a great horror film if it weren't for the lack of story and the non-existent scary scenes. I'm terrified by the littlest things in horror movies but there was no build up in the films attempt to scare. I was extremely disappointed to say the least and I'm so glad this article confirms that. I just wish I would have read this review before spending the $1.29 at Redbox because it was a waste of money and the worst horror film ever!

Aside from a bunch of LOUD noise ... which was unnerving, indeed ... what was the plot? No plot! No solid ending.
