The Hurt Locker(2009)- User Reviews

This is a movie about the Iraq war. It is very well directed. I felt uncomfortable the whole time that I was watching it. The reason why is because the American troops are surrounded by people all the time and they all look suspicious. No racism intended but when your in enemy territory and there are alot of people looking at you it can get a bit uncomfortable. And I'm just WATCHING the movie! I know that this is a movie, but for real...those soldiers in Iraq...I can only imagine how suspicious and paranoid those soldiers really are. They really do put their lives out there every day and they are very brave to do so. So in the beginning of this movie we start off with a simple mission. Three soldiers trying to get rid of these bombs. One of the soldiers gets killed as the bombs are detinated. There was a man with a cell phone that activated the bombs. One of the soldiers on that team had a shot and could have killed the man with the cell phone but for some reason he didn't take the shot. So that soldier deeply regrets that and is being hard on himself. As a replacement we get Jeremy Renner's character. I forgot the name of his character, I think it was James but I'm not sure. Anyway, Renner's character is a gambler, he doesn't leave the bomb site until his job is done. He gets alot of smack and yelling from the other man on his team, who is their leader. My only flaw that I would have with this movie would have to be the end. The message that they deliver with Renner's character at the end was just not very special or that great of an idea in my opinion. I thought that there was going to be more of a message in the movie instead it wasn't as great as I thought as it would be. It's still somewhat of a good message though. That is really my only flaw though. Now to the positives. Once again, the direction is fantastic. They show us the hardships that these soldiers must go through in war. I felt so intense and paranoid while watching this movie, that's how unsafe of a condition these soldiers are put in. They also had very nice cinematography during the explosions. The acting was fantastic. The story was great. This is a very good movie, it deserved to win best picture, very well done especially. This is a MUST SEE.
