The best submarine movie of all time
Of all the the submarine movies, none is better than The Hunt for Red October. This is the first movie adapted from a Tom Clancy book, and possibly the best one, for I haven't yet seen The Sum of all Fears.
I still wonder why Alec Baldwin did not appear as his character Jack Ryan in the next three sequels. You see, Baldwin was only Ryan in 1 film, and it seemed more like 1 minute. In the next two sequels: Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, Harrison Ford was Jack Ryan. In the latest Tom Clancy film The Sum of all Fears, Ben Affleck took the role. So why did Baldwin only get one chance? I mean, he was a pretty good Jack Ryan. But it did seem like Harrison Ford was better. Maybe that's why...
The Hunt for Red October not only stars Alec Baldwin, but also the best actor ever: Sean Connery! Connery is a Russian sub captain named Ramius. When America finds out about a Russian submarine headed by Ramius called the Red October, they think that Ramius is going to attack them. But Jack Ryan, a CIA analyst, thinks that Ramius is planning to defect and make a living in America. But he only has little time to find Ramius and prove his innocence, because the entire Russian naval and air commands are also trying to find him, and not only that, but they're trying to convince the Americans that Ramius is dangerous. Now only Ryan can stop this mess before his fellow Americans make a terrible mistake!
The Hunt for Red October reigns as the best film involving a submarine, next to K-19: The Widowmaker and U-571. This great movie also stars James Earl Jones, Scott Glenn, Sam Neil, and Tim Curry.
