Hey I have a serious question about the comparison of the book to the movie. If you read the book, we kno that Peeta lost a leg from his wound not being able to heal properly in the arena. And in the both the book and the movie Katniss was able to rescue medicine from the "feast" for his wound. However in the movie both his injury and the scare on Katniss's forehead instantly healed. Did I miss something in the movie where it's possible that he would still need the metal leg? I think it's weird that something that significant would be left out.

I loved the book and this movie could have been so much more. The director did a horrible job. Bad screenplay. Camera was moving WAY TOO MUCH. I thought I was going to be sea sick. Several important things were screwed up or left out totally. In the book when Peeta and Katniss get on the train they ate so much they got sick. In the movie, Kat basically stared at the food. What's up with that? When they met on the roof of the hotel, they talked about the force field so you couldn't jump. In the movie, not a word. There are more examples, too many to list. GET RID OF GARY ROSS!!!!!

Don't worry - they did. He backed out of making the second & third a couple months ago. I, too, found the movie horrible due to camera action.

I thought it was okay not the best job but the actors and actresses said on interveiws that they tried there best so.... and also they said it was a very hard jobs so I say thumbs up.

The books are AMAZING! I read all 3 in less than 3 days. I just couldn't put them down and I don't read often unless I can find a book of real interest. The movie, however, was less than par. The actors and actresses were great...very believable. Regardless, the directing was bad. For a 2 1/2 hour movie, you would think that so many pertinant parts from the book would not be included in the movie and then left unexplained. Had I not read the book first, I would have been very confused. I understand that it is close to impossible to cover everything in a book but I do think that if something from the book is going to be included in the movie at all, it ought to be explained a lot more. I felt like the movie skipped around a lot.

      I totally agree with you

Same here, though I thought the camera moving too much was also a contributing factor as to why I hated it so much. I nearly puked into my popcorn once or twice....

Unfortunately we already live in a society where children already brutally kill each other. These books are meant to encourage our children to read, to think outside the box and ALWAYS strive to do what is right. I personally feel that these books are better than some of the other "popular" books right now. I have never heard some one argue that our children shouldn't read To Kill a Mockingbird or even Romeo and Juliet. These books are both considered to be works of art and classics. Are these books not riddled with disturbing content? Books are here to encourage our children to read, to give themselves an option to keep out of trouble, a source of knowledge and to encourage thought and opinion. These are fundamental elements that will create well rounded, educated, well spoken articulate children. I for one want my children to know that there is a difference between truth and fiction, to know the difference in right and wrong, as well as good and evil. This book encourages all of these I for one encourage every parent to read them. If when you have read these books you don't feel that your children would be encouraged to stand for truth and right then post your comments. Only then will you have a true opinion on these books. Only then will I view your opinion as educated, non bias and having a true understanding of the subject at hand.

This is not the first movie ever made where kids get killed by kids. Not that, that's all right, but it is part of the storing telling. Story being the key word here. Books are read, they make movies out of them. They are not suggesting anything. Just trying to tell the story as close to the book as they can. I do think they could have explained things a little better in the beginning, but all in all, it was a decent movie. No movie is ever as good as the book, if you read the book first.

Its spelled rue, did you even read thebooks? This is set far in the future, after a great war between the disrtics and the capitol, and this is to remind the disrtics that they are completele at thecapitols mercy

People whine so much because oh kids are killing kids...undoubtedly no one has read The Lord of the Flies...its been happening for years. Kids can't kill kids but adults can kill adults...yes it can hit parents but it really isn't that much different. And besides that is what our society is coming too, so grow a back bone and get over it people. It was a great book and a good movie...that is the end of it. Besides just by doing that one movie the actors and people involved can sit and do nothing for the rest of their lives...whose jealous of that!

      Lyn,
Your posts sure contain a lot of spelling errors from someone who insults others about their level of intelligence. I'm just sayin'. LOL
    • Lyn 14 days ago
Everyone misspells things from time to time and I don't see any errors so, send yourself somewhere else.

hey hey, calm down, but lyn you are right this is just a book set far into the future, so was is it such a big deal now that they arebeing killed by other kids?

I found the first half dragged out extremely, and hated the rest because of the stupid camera moving around so much and blurring. I get it, Katniss is poisoned by the bee, but really?
    • NIKKI BOO 7 days ago
Its not a bee its a tracker jacker wasp, cuz thats way it saids in the book

I just finished reading the Book Thomas and the concerns you stated are answered very well in the book, I would suggest reading it, I plan to see the movie this week sometime, your comment was helpful, and I'm glad I read the book first as I would have probably been upset at the movie too.

For all the 11 and 12 year olds writing in here, please learn to spell. You are killing the English language. (ie not 'sware,' but 'swear,' OK?)
Maybe you should stop watching the movies and start studying.
