I will start off by saying I have seen all the trilogies that first began with The Hobbit, and many years ago I read the book, so it's too late to say "Don't read the book", did that many years ago. The Hobbit was as expected, but there were a few spots when it was slow, and I myself almost fell asleep and I saw a lady seated in front of me that literally was sleep for several minutes. All these types of movies are extremely long, but the ones that follow will have more action than the Hobbit did so it won't feel like a three hour movie, and it is a 3 hour movie so be prepared. The only complaint or more of a concern is why they totally removed the scene with the Spiders and Sting;it's absolutely insane that the directors and producers didn't include this at all, now talk about action packed that wouldv'e been awesome but for whatever reason they decided to omit a major part and replace it will something that wouldn't frighten my five year old nephew! Other than that, The Hobbit is a must see, good action, great visuals, and ladies lots of muscles, fighting, and grunting; you gotta love it!
