Pleasantly Surprised. Don't listen to the critics. (No spoilers)

My kid wanted to see this movie and I was apprehensive because there were some negative reviews and people complained that it was too long. I gave in and we went to see The Hobbit and it was great. The movie wasn't slow at all because it was put together with great detail at a good pace. There was plenty of action and character development. I saw the regular 2D version and I will probably watch the next one in 3D. The cinematography was spectacular. I don't know why a lot of critics gave this movie a bad review but then again I don't understand a lot of the reviews anymore.
