The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey(2012)- User Reviews

I'll start out by saying this movie was needlessly long. It started out so slow, they could have probably cut out 20 minutes at the beginning. I went with my dad, and I saw he fell asleep a few times during it. It started getting a little better about an hour into it, and actually by the end there was some good action going. I hope the second movie will get moving, and keep me a little more into it from the start, however this seems unlikely, since they are squeezing three movies out of it.

It's very similar to Lord of the Rings, so you're not as impressed by the scenery this time around, because many of the locations are the same as they were in those movies.

I know they want to make big money with these movies, but I had originally heard there was only going to be two movies, but now I guess it's going to be three so they can squeeze every penny out of it. I wish they'd have stuck with two, because it seems like they move a little too slow since they have to stretch it out longer.
