I just came back from the screening of The Hobbit in Sacramento, CA
Personally I don't like prequels and like stuff in chronological order, but that didn't matter while watching this movie.
One of the highlights of the movie was the technology used. The staff said they used 45mm (camera's?) for the film. I have never seen movie so clear before (I think it was better than IMAX)
The 3d effects were really awesome and matched well with the large landscapes and scenery!
Again, the Tolkien story brought tears to my eyes. You don't get to know every character in depth, but you can feel their bonds with each other.
I highly recommend this movie!
