When I heard that they were making the single book into three movies I thought for sure that it would be a mistake. However, after seeing An Unexpected Journey, they proved me wrong. The whole movie kept me hooked. It brought back the same amazing feel …more»1 of 2 people found this review helpful-

Loved this movie despite some negative reviews. I welcomed the added material to give more depth to the story which I'm sure was Jackson's intention. Warm, heart-felt, and humorous, The Hobbit was simply wonderful. I was so immersed that I was …more»2 of 2 people found this review helpful-

I was trying to figure out how they were going to make this one book into 3 3-hr movies. Well after watching this one I can see how. They extend out the fight scenes and add in a few things but it's still wonderfully done.
But I can't deny that …more»2 of 4 people found this review helpful-

Peter Jackson knows how to turn a story like this into a Middle Earth adventure. It was all of that. However, the story rather annoyingly deviates from the book. First, the movie is excessively filled with monsters and battles ... once the long and …more»7 of 9 people found this review helpful-

I have finally gotten around to seeing the first Hobbit movie. While I had issues with the deviations from the text, the movie stands well on its own. The script is a mix of the everything up to the eagles in the Hobbit as well parts of two other works, …more»2 of 2 people found this review helpful-

I just seen the movie at MJR and I could not believe they could drag a book of 300 or so pages into a 3 hour movie with more than 2 or 3 parts. Compared to the LOTR, this movie is second rated, and I am a Tolkin junkie and have been for over 60 years...three …more»4 of 4 people found this review helpful-

I first watched this movie on opening weekend and went into the movie with an open mind. The movie was playing on an XD screen and in 3D. Overall I gave the movie a thump up but thought it had some issues. There were some visual issues keeping me from …more»3 of 3 people found this review helpful-

I enjoyed the film in 3D. It was fun, visually spectactular, and true to what I remember reading from The Hobbit book years ago. However, the movie seemed to be running long and "surprise" just when we get to a "good part", we're …more»0 of 0 people found this review helpful-

I enjoyed this movie very much. I had heard "its long", "lots of walking", and I had tried to imagine how the plot of the Hobbit could be spread across 3 movies and started to feel less urgency to go see the film. After watching …more»1 of 2 people found this review helpful-

The original Hobbit is one book, why it has to be made into a 9 hour long, 3 part "trilogy" is beyond me. This story can easily be told in one, 2 hour long movie. The original Lord of the Rings movies were a trilogy, and that was fine, because …more»3 of 3 people found this review helpful
