This movie was just phenominal.
I've noticed some people complaining about the humor but the Hobbit novel was actually full of Dwarves with plenty of humor.
The effects in this movie, the actors, and the cinematography was amazing.
I loved it and …more»0 of 1 people found this review helpful-

I enjoyed the movie very much and so did my wife. If this had come out before the LOR I don't think people would be criticizing it like they are. Don't compare it the LOR movies. Watch it and enjoy it for what it is. An interpretation of The Hobbit …more»4 of 4 people found this review helpful-

As a LOR fan this film was downright embarassing. It was as silly and meaningless as Star Wars 1. The movie makers apparently think that since the trilogy was a great success (three truly great films indeed), repeating the scenery and creatures would …more»3 of 7 people found this review helpful-

This movie was nothing but filler trying to get by on a name, the LOR trilogy. Bilbo spends a good portion of the film having 13 idiot-acting dwarves crash his place and eat up the food. Then he packs, and packs, and.....and then they start out with …more»0 of 0 people found this review helpful-

I think The Hobbit is the most exciting movie I've ever seen. It is actually better than Tolkien's original story, and the special effects are state of the art. I don't get some of the critical comments made by a couple of the reviewers here. …more»1 of 3 people found this review helpful-

I had wondered how Peter Jackson was going to stretch 'The Hobbit', which is not a very long book, into three films. The answer, blend in bits and pieces of the appendices at the end of 'The Return of the King', 'The Book of Lost Tales' …more»1 of 1 people found this review helpful-

Peter Jackson has created two parts to the overall movie that fans and newbies should realize. For one, he follows the first six chapters of "The Hobbit" pretty closely, but adds some sidelines to help small children enjoy this version also. …more»0 of 0 people found this review helpful-

This movie was good. I enjoyed it even though it is padded well beyond the original book. Most of the additional back story came from the Silmarillion (one of Tolkien's later works) which filled in the holes between the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. …more»3 of 3 people found this review helpful-

The Hobbit was a kid's story. What is this? Peter Jackson has set of on An Expected Journey to milk every dime from his successful LOTR trilogy. This can be summed up by, Run through the woods, bloody battle; run over the fields, bloody battle; run …more»5 of 11 people found this review helpful-

Great story adaptation and use of appendices to expand Middle Earth. Stunning visually. The HFR 3D is truly something to behold but beautiful in standard 2D 24fps. Acting was super with Martin Freeman nailing Bilbo and Richard Armitage as the haunted …more»1 of 1 people found this review helpful
