The Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy(2005)- User Reviews

I usually like quirky offbeat humor and sci-fi so was expecting a more sophisticated film. It started off semi-promising as the narrator informed the audience that the dolphins had left the Earth and we found out that the main characters friend was an Alien and they hitch a ride on a space-ship. After that it went downhill fast. Once they meet up with Zoey Descanel and this really annoying guy with a bad cheesy heavy metal rock harido (he's waaaay more annoying then the annoying Orange of You Tube fame) and an extra head inside his neck it becomes almost intolerable. The little pessimistic white robot with the big round head was kind of cool and interesting but many of the other characters were just sooooo annoying and the story was so disjointed that the movie just becomes a big mess. Its one of the movies that could not decide what to be and doesn't work at anything. There are no laughs so its not really a comedy and its too lame to be taken seriously as sci-fi. If it wanted to be a comedy they should have hired better comedy writers for the scenes. It seemed extremely amateurish like something a college film group through together. Unless you loved the book you should avoid this one.
