How refreshing to see all of this lovely effort ... woven in the most visually pleasing artistic way ... to remind us of the indignities of man (including women). Considering the multi-millions of dollars that is spent on making today's violent, explosive, blood-explicit and sexual-explicit movies, this marvelous movie, The Help, makes it clear ... that maybe, all of the current outrageous movies may well be missing the point. This wonderfully told and exquisitely acted film is touching millions of hungry hearts ... for so many of us have been longing for such a emotional moving and most realistic movie. ( I am sure there are a few million of us who are hoping for sequels ).
It is very important that ALL children and their parents see this movie together, so that, overall, we all get a reminder as to how to respect and appreciate ALL people, especially THOSE who are serving us ... and raising our children. The beautiful little girl, 'Mae Mobley, acted by the 3 yr. old twins, Elanor & Emma Henry were just extraordinary. Even though, I am not black, I was married to a man who I so feared. He felt that I never did anything 'right enough'. After 15 years of that emotional abuse and a divorce, I blossomed and became an expert in my career and worked for giant companies. Yes, it is horrible ... to look down upon others. But, when you feel that you have no choice and are full of fear, it is a very lonely and rigid life. Kudos to all ... who are able to find a lifeline away from that emotional abuse. Back to 'The Help', I loved ALL of the actors so very much, I am NOT even able to choose who is the best and who is the best supporting actress. P.S. I hope little Mae Mobley get some kind of wonderful acknowledgement. She was so precious, a trooper and already, quite an extraordinary actress !
