I didn't read the book (yet) but I said to my wife as we left the theater: Remember when Pulp Fiction came out and when we saw it our guts started knotting up during the pawn shop scene? that's how it felt a couple of times in this movie. Man, it is harsh and twisted in (many) scenes. Yes, I recommend it, mostly for the acting by Rooney Mara and the hard-hitting action. That said, don't say I didn't warn you about the knotting up of your guts during a couple of particularly gruesome scenes...
