**I would not take any one under the age of 18 to this film or any adults that verbalize or practice any kind of morality. Kids will have too many questions and films of this nature that almost border on pornography without actually crossing the line are not for your children or any others under the age of 18. If you go with adults with so called high moral values, you will have your hands full and probably never hear the end of it.**
For ADULTS, who are okay with highly graphic sex scenes and graphic violence for the sake of an intense plot...this movie is for you. It will keep you on the edge of your seat (especially if you haven't read the books) so be prepared to go on one heck of a thriller ride. I am not sure how they will ever edit this film for mass TV. To do so will take too much away from the plot, character development and impact. So, I see this only coming out on DVD and on cable or satellite movie channels and not something released for the masses in any form. While it's not "pornographic" it could be considered disturbing and I am going to agree with the comment about there probably being another rating added to the system. I.D. with proof of age could be a factor with this film and the controversy it's going to generate. This movie will open up the doors for increased intensity in violence and sex scenes (as well as more liberalized nudity) and people should be aware prior to going. This film is not for the squeamish or those who are still developing sexually who may take some of the sex acts the wrong way or as being part of the norm. However, all scenes in the film do actually help develop the characters, their motivation and the plot. So, in this film they are central to it's story and the story WOULD NOT be as good without them.
This is an incredibly well crafted film. Acting, sets, cinematography, script development and translation from a foreign novel are so well done it's almost unbelievable.
This Film Is Oscar Worthy,
Spellbinding, Adult Drama and Entertainment. I see it as being shrouded in controversy due to content, but, a strong enough film to take home quite a few of the gold statues. Films like this only come along once in a great while. The last one remotely close would be "Silence Of The Lambs" and I would put it on my must see list and recommend it to appropriate friends.
