Ok, being from St. Louis this movie drew huge at our biggest theater, every show sold out, extra theater added for final show of the night. Why would St. Louis make a diffrence in a movie? Well, for the first time in a long time "The Lou" was at the center of a film. Shooting took place in a number of neighborhoods over a 2 month span. Adding to that, the story revolves around 4 soccer players who grew up in a section of St. Louis called "The Hill" and I saw at least 1 of the central characters in the theater when I saw the movie on Friday night. Also, all the extras are from the area. (Sidenote, a few of the extras were seated right behind me with their family, it was really cool to hear them when one of them was up on the screen) Another plus is that all of the locations are authentic, the NY scenes were filmed in NY and the South American scenes were filmed in SA. So all that brings me to the negatives...the acting in some parts is questionable and 2 or 3 scenes is absolutly terrible, highlighted by the "Big Fat Greek Wedding" guy. He repeats the same line "I just wanna play" 4 times in succession and his delivery gets worse and worse with every pathetic plea. The biggest flaw my friends and I noticed is that the end of the movie surrounds 1 win over England..THE TEAM DIDN'T EVEN WIN THE WORLD CUP!! My question is, What's next? An underdog leading after 1 quarter of the Superbowl. I have to go now, sorry to cut it short, no one got this far anyway.
