This is a good documentary to watch if if you know practically nothing about American history and politics from WWII until Vietnam.
If you do know anything about this era you will be disappointed. Given, McNamara gives his personal and moderately interesting perspective, lessons and interpretation. But because the scope of time and deeds in question is so massive, the movie becomes extremely shallow.
In essence McNamara gives some very ridiculous and unfounded statements and because lack of time, or backbone (?) these statements are not probed at all.
I was left with a sense that I was cheated, Mr. McNamara got to say what he wanted (and his message was quite predictable) but I did not get any of the hard answers that we as Americans must ask regarding U.S foreign policy during the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.
See it, but don’t expect to get any real answers…
