This has nothing to do with communist. Nanking massacre is a historical fact. In fact the Chinese soldiers in the movie were GMT which were opposite of communist. Whoever wrote this review needs to do more research and reading about the 20th century war history.

Portraying a good Japanese soldier in Nanking would be like portraying a good Nazi at Auschwitz. Even if by some small chance there happened to be a decent soldier there, you'd upset a LOT of people by showing it in a film. The Chinese still hold an enormous grudge about the deaths of some 20 million civilians in China at the hands of the Japanese. A film that portrays them in a positive light would likely be boycotted.

There are many Chinese films that are nationalistic in nature--not because of the Chinese government, but because of the people. The films don't promote communism, they merely promote the idea that China belongs to the Chinese. After being conquered by the Manchus, then the West, then the Japanese, it's not an unsurprising, or even wrong, ideal.

I guess you did not watch it before writing this?

Well, I think maybe you want to check if you are biased or not. There is no documentation of any showing the good side of Japanese soldiers during that horrendous event. What are you trying to say about there are no bad Chinese in the movie? They are girls/women, what do you expect?

I don't think it is CCP propaganda. Feel free to check the historic documents before speaking here.

My thoughts exactly. I hadn't even seen the others on Nanking and I figured out pretty quickly I was being preached at. The story is made-up and doesn't even make a lot of sense. It takes place mostly in a Christian church with the main American actor playing the part of a mortician who pretends he is a minister name Christian Bale. Way over the top despite the great scenes of violence if you like that sort of thing.
