The first half of this movie dragged and had some pretty weak casting and acting. I guess Powers Booth was trying to stay in character as a typical mid-western no-nonsense, old coach, but I'm not sure playing for a guy with no pulse would help win a state championship 20 years running. Sean Astin and Rachel Leigh Cook had no chemistry. It didn't help that Sean was shorter than most of his team. The folksiness of the hometown elders was very tiring. The only person who showed me she might have some real acting potential was the romantic interest of the brooding city-boy catcher. My 8 year old boys tolerated it, so I guess it could have been worse.
