This movie was absolutely awful on so many levels I'm not even sure where to begin.
While the story was somewhat interesting, the acting absolutely was horrific. I've seen rocks that display more emotion then Wahlberg. If he's happy, sad, angry, boxing or having sex, his expression never changes.
BY the time this film ended I could not care if he won, loss, lived or died.
There is no character development at all. One minute he wants his family involved. The next minute he doesnt. But wait--5 minutes later he does. 5 minutes later he doesnt.
There were also numerous mistakes. While Micky is fighting in one match, his brother Dicky remains on the phone with his mom so his mom can relay the events of the fight. NOw does anyone really think that when you're incarcerated you can stay on the phone for 45 minutes???
Also, at the end: Micky just wins the championship in an 8 round fight--but yet, upon the conclusion of the fight, there is NO SWEAT on his entire body. Not an ounce. He was sweating more in the first scene of the film paving a street.
And come on--Mickey and Dickey??? Is this a Disney cartoon?
And the fight scenes were so unrealstic they were laughable.
Take a white trash family who uses the "F" word every other sentence, a main character with no backbone and a drug addict brother, put it together and you've got the Fighter.
