The Departed(2006)- User Reviews

Yet again another great crime classic made by the brillant director Martin Scorsese who just created a film just slightly below another crime classic film he made Goodfellas (one of my all-time favorites). The film stars three of some of my favorite actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, the very underrated Vera Farmiga, Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin and Ray Winstone. The movie is just a masterpiece.

I'll start off with the top-notch acting in the movie. I think Jack Nicholson killed it as Frank Costello, the leader of the mob. He was just so funny in a dark way and reminded me and alot of people i know of the old Jack we hardly ever see anymore. The oscars i think really missed out on him. Also great performances from my boy Lenardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg who killed me in every scene he was in. He was such a dick that i couldn't stop laughing. Also really good performances from Vera Farmiga, Ray Winstone and Alec Baldwin who was also very funny. Also the script for this movie is just perfect and really smart. The directing from Martin Scorsese is great as always. I can't even find one flaw with the one.

Also i really enjoyed the chemistry Vera had with both Leo and Matt. It worked. And as i said before the movie while a bit sad at times works as a dark comedy as we'll. Just lot's of classic lines mostly from Jack Nicholson and Mark Wahlberg characters. I also loved how they had the moles identies kept from alot of the characters throughtout the whole movie but the audience knew the whole time. I will say though they try to throw a twist at the end sort of but i saw it coming but i don't think it was meant to be a huge twist so no big deal. The movie keeps you guessing throughout the whole movie and there's some twist and turns. The movie looks great as we'll and has problay one of the most interesting and intense stories i've seen in a movie.

So all in all if you haven't seen The Departed you defintley need to i think if your a fan of Martin Scorsese, crime movies and just great movies overall. It is entertaining as heck. Like i said it is just a bit below Goodfellas and is a great movie. I give it the highest rating an A+.
