The whole trilogy had issues with its portrayal of Batman. At best they managed Batman-lite and a good portion of the time it was just some random guy in a suit.

The latest incarnation felt like one very long beating. Even the acting skills of Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway couldn't save the pathetic story. Apparently in DC movies these days the goal is to conflate as many different characters as possible and link them together before killing them off. Bane was as weak as the fight coreography (at least he and Batman had poor fight coreography, Anne's was good). He was neither believable as a threat or at all super.

Batman was missing for the vast majority of the film. He had 3 very short sequences and spent basically the entire film being defeated by everyone but the kids from the orphanage.

The plot of the movie made ordinary people seem like we are all on the verge of rioting in the street and no more civillized than a zombie invasion. There was lots of tech, but it all felt rushed.

They tried to go big and just ended up loud.
