The first two were classics: #1 for its plot, characterizations, visual effects, and successfully humanizing this superhero; and #2, due to the earth-shattering performance of Heath Ledger. The story of #2 was not quite as gripping as #1, minute-by-minute, but I feel it's a worthy sequel to its slightly more cohesive predecessor. So one and all would likely expect the finale to at least be a "good" movie. I sure did. Well, at the risk of receiving a few backlashes from devout fans who would swoon over a pile of sewage if it were shaped like the caped crusader, I will express my disappointment in #3...
For so many reasons, including a clumsy screenplay, lack of character depth, a boring villain, infantile fist fights, and a great director who appears to have been down the hall (perhaps in a meeting with Zack Snyder) while crucial decisions were made, "The Dark Knight Rises" ... doesn't.
