The Dark Knight Rises(2012)- User Reviews

Alright so no one in the world should have expected this film to be better than the Dark Knight. And this is with good reason. Heath Ledger put in one of the best performances I have seen in the last 15 years. How do you top that? You don't. And they didn't in this film. Christian Bail did well as always but he is not strong enough to carry the film. Anne Hathaway was actually outstanding and, despite the fact the fact I think she is super hot, was probably the most interesting character in the film. She did great and I have loved watching her progression of talent throughout the films she has done. Joseph Gordan-Levitt did well as the police officer/detective but I don't buy where they are trying to take him at the end of the film............(Nightwing? Really?)
Michael Caine might as well not have even been the film which is shame because he is an extremely talented individual. Gary Oldman is always good but it still seemed like they didn't use all of his talent to their advantage. Morgan Freeman's role was also dumbed down. It seemed like they strictly focussed on Batman and Bane in this film which was a huge mistake. Christiian Bale and Tom Hardy are good actors but they are not strong enough to carry a film like this especially when you got a group of actors like said above that are abosolutley amazing. Why would you not use the talent that you have at your finger tips?!? The one major thing that robbed this film was the Bane chracter. Granted, following Heath Ledger would have made this task damn near impossible but all you do is handicap your actor by placing a mask over his face the entire film. And yes, I'm a comic book fan, I know that Bane had a mask but if you're going to make him a main plot line then maybe you should drop the mask in certain critical scenes. So much emotion was robbed by having that mask on Bane the entire film. I found myself wacthing Tom Hardy's adam's apple at times to see if it moved and that is just wrong. I should be focussing on a person's performance. Not his throat.
Overall is this a good film? Yes. The only reason I gave it three stars is because it really does not match up to the Dark Knight at all. If you go see it you will enjoy it and that is the whole point of going out for a movie. But........that's just it..........it's a movie......not a film.....like the Dark Knight was.
