You have to really think about the first two movie to get this one.
First of all the two stars are for the actors Joseph Gordon Levitt, Michael Cain and Morgan Freeman. Not that everyone else sucked but the writing for the others sucked.
Bane’s character wasn't scary or menacing or any more threatening that any other thug batman has encountered.
plus he was very hard to understand. his scenes needed subtitles and i felt that because of this i was lost half of the time with the plot of the story. and that goes the same for the Miranda woman. And Spoiler the twist with her at the end is pointless. I believe that twists should shed light on the story, be the missing puzzle piece that no on saw coming. I didn’t see it coming but it sure left me going huh??? why?? and where does that leave bane? just a lackey? a super strong one that in the end has no mind of his own? isn’t that like the bane in the old movie with poison ivy? Since he is not the true villain of the story then i am double disappointed there was no faceoff between the hero and the villain
Batman hardly showed up in the movie. he had two cool action scenes and that’s about it the rest of the time bruce wayne is spent locked up in a cage watching gotham go to hell. plus i don’t know why in the beginning of the movie he is a shut in. the last movie he took the blame for Harvey dents death, running of into the night a hero a pillar of strength that gotham needed him to be. 8 years later hes a rusty old hermit guy. yes he did lose rachel but it felf more like he was mourning the loss of batman. 8 years! Why Alfred didn’t seek professional help for him sooner is beyond me. And what was with the cane??? i guess this is where the RISES of TDKR comes in, but i hadn’t realized the last movie had left him rolling around in the ground in agony.
Catwoman..her witty one liners got old really fast. not enough screen time with her as just selena kyle. suddenly there’s a huge attraction between her and batman. Double u-tee-eff-where did it come from, just last scene he was mourning rachel and then boom one dance and a conversation with selena and its rachel who?? yes we all know there is an attraction between the two but it just seemed like ti was forced because thats what everyone is expecting...and it sure as hell wasn’t enough to suddenly run away with the woman who betrayed you and turned u over to bane.
did the story really have to come FULL circle with the villains from the first movie in the last. the scarecrow was confusing, why??? i didnt assume he just died but why have him just show up..again a full circle kind of thing? ok we know raz algul had a daughter so i suppose she had to come in for revenge sometime but why now? why not leave her as a cliff hanger because(HUGE HUGE SPOILER) robin is introduced, meaning batman will comeback eventually to fight crime so miranda could come back as a villan then. Also the whole running away with selena was pointless, if batman is comming back unless nolan is re writing the batman legend and there is no batman/robin in his universe. sidenote did anyone notice that in the second movie commissioner gordan had a daughter that is roughly a teenager in TDKR(um batgirl anyone?) i guess what i am having trouble swallowing is that nolan has tried to squeeze the entire batman legend from beginning to a happily ever after in 3 movies, what comics and other movies have never done. and yes its a happily every after for bruce wayne, where does that leave our beloved batman?
just a final thought, ok so the movie was more about bruce wayne finding the strength to live just as bruce wayne without needing his alter ego batman. issues that batman begins and the dark knight brings up but never really adress( i e rachel telling bruce she cannot be his only hope and that the mask he wears is bruce wayne not batman). but that is part of the charm about batman...a man in a cape running around beating up villians because his parents died. He is so far gone the question is : is bruce wayne running around at night as batman or is batman running around as bruce wayne by day. and though this movie is supposed to bring closure to that, there are some things in the batman universe you dont mess with.
really it should be tittle Bruce Wayne Rises
