A Satisfying Conclusion to an Epic Trilogy

First off, I feel that it is only appropriate to say that my thoughts and prayers go out to the Colorado shooting victims and their families. Tragedy like that is always to heartbreaking to hear.

Does this film deliver? Yes it does. For those who don't know, it's been eight years since the events of the Dark Knight. Batman is gone, Bruce Wayne is a recluse, and Commissionaire Gordon is living with the guilt of allowing Batman to take the blame for Harvey Dent's murders. As for Gotham City, things couldn't be better. The City is almost crime-free thanks to the Dent Acts, passed after Dent's Death. But of course, things go bad when the new super-villain in town, Bane, arrives in Gotham City with a monstrous plan in store for the city and its citizens. That's the basics of the film without spoiling anything.

The acting is just great, transforming a comic book world into something realistic and tangible. The main cast from the previous two films still deliver, as well as the newcomers. Tom Hardy makes a terrifying villain as Bane. His voice is covered, so he can only convey emotion by means of emotion and voice, which he does well, even his voice is difficult to understand sometimes. Anne Hathaway also does a terrific job as Catwoman, being sexy and clever, she plays the character almost exactly the way she is done in the comics. There are two other newcomers. Marion Cotillard as Bruce's new love interest Miranda Tate, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a cop. Again, both give strong performances in their roles.

The special effects are just astounding, from the Batwing to the films edge-of-seat opening sequence. Barely any CGI was done for the film.

As third entry in a superhero franchise, it is certainly better than Spider-Main 3 or X-Men 3. You can rarely say that you enjoyed the third entry in a trilogy just as much as the first two.

In my opinion, Christipher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy is the best superhero franchise that I have ever seen, making a comic book universe look believable, realistic, and tangible. It is also one of my favorite franchises of all time, finally doing my favorite superhero justice.

In short, if you enjoyed Nolan's first two Batman films, you will definitely enjoy this one. If you didn't, then there's no point in you going.
