The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian(2008)- User Reviews

Clearly Has Slow Points but a Worthy Sequel

For about the first third of the movie, I felt the pacing was too slow. It seemed for some parts to drag on and I found myself doing the hand motion of "c'mon keep things moving" and that sort of thing. But as it progressed I could feel the tension and subtle acting at work. At first I thought Barnes' Caspian was rather dull, but then again he's supposed to be royalty and hasn't had much experience with leadership. I thought the rest of the actors did well, kept up with their appearances and personalities which carried over from the first film. I've heard that Skandar Keynes' performance was "boring" but he turned out to be my favorite in this film. Concerning the story, the plot had some holes for the common viewer which may be why I'll have to revisit the book myself one of these days. The visuals were of course spectacular as they should be and overall you should find that the film is a very enjoyable ride, despite the slowness in the beginning, it takes a bit longer to build things up. If the beginning had been reworked and shortened with more attention paid later on, might have been better that way. Anyway, enjoy the film. (It will possibly leave you wanting to watch the first one all over again so be prepared for that...)
