The Children of Huang Shi starts off looking like a Peoples Republic of China propaganda movie. The evil Japanese and Nationalist Chinese creating havoc with children! Here comes comrade Chow Yun Fat to save the day. Lee is an american who has come to China to help the communist chinese cause, while Hogg a british reporter that wants to write about the horrors of the japanese invasion, is a pacifist that thinks that if he goes around China saying he comes in peace, no one will try to hurt him. If you can get past that, then it is a beautiful movie, and the ending has a surprise that you will appreciate. Chow Yun Fat was great as always, now on to resurecting his role as Tequilla in Hard Boiled 2!
