There's some good acting here by Edward Hermann and Kirsten Dunst. Hermann makes Hearst very human and even more pathetic than Orson Welles did in Citizen Kane. Kirsten Dunst rehabilitates Marion Davies.

Had to watch over and over again just to see how well the actors played their roles. Couldn't see Izzard as Chaplin. Chaplin was a lady's man and he looked it, Izzard can't cut the mustard in this category, but he played his role great. …more»0 of 0 people found this review helpful-

I recently rented this title from the local video shop.
I must say in all honesty, this picture is too elegant for my tastes. Too neat and tidy. I prefer a film to be a little more real.
