The Cabin in the Woods(2012)- User Reviews

I really didn't know what to expect from The Cabin in the Woods. My friend and I both had the day off and he wanted to see a couple movies yesterday, this being one of them. I didn't really know anything about the movie except the critics were giving it very positive reviews. My friend simply said it was about "Kids staying in a cabin and people controlling how they act and died". I thought that was extremely cliche' but I am a fan of horror so I will give it a shot.

Now keep in mind, I did not Google the movie or even go as far as watching a trailer so I had no idea what to expect. Within the first 20 minutes or so, I was thinking "Is this suppose to be funny?", lol. It quickly dawned on me that is simply a horror comedy, and I won't go as far as saying it is a complete parody. It addresses different aspects of horror including the cliche' formula of horror with to me, a good deal of laughs thrown in. Without giving too much information, it does have several "jump at you" moments but if you have seen many horror films in your life time, you will see them coming a mile away. I know I did.

There is gore present; however, as somebody already pointed out it's kind of like watching a bloody scene from a video game like "Resident Evil". I think if you are a fan of gore, this movie should satisfy.

Overall, I had a very good time seeing "The Cabin in the Woods" and I would recommend it to the right people of course.
