Great story. Ahead of its time. Excellent characters and treatment of subtle social issues, especially as it relates to women and minorities. "Poor Devil" is great as supporting actor without speaking English, as is Elizabeth Threatt. Narration by Arthur Hunnicut is first rate. Outstanding dialog full of "absolute truths". Fairly accurate historical elements, too. Compare with "The Searchers".
