I know nothing about the avengers history or comic storyline and didn't need to, the movie was great and finally worth every buck spent. It was true fantasy, action and break everything up! A little slow to get every one rolling but long enough to justify it. Anyone who writes a bad review about this movie is comparing the story lines to comics or has a nail in their head! Even went again just to see what I MISSED. My wife even enjoyed the movie and it wasn't a love story? It's science fantasy fiction not reality.
