Penn's performance is one of the best of the decade. If you have the self-esteem to handle a sad and creepy story, this film should not be missed.
I generally consider the NY Times the best source for movie reviews, but it suspiciously missed the mark by a wide margin on this one. I believe this film simply hit too close to home for people who want to believe (or want the public to believe) that terrorism is a meaningless act of evil. I believe this was Penn's not-so-veiled attempt to explain what happened on 9/11. It makes more sense to me than anything other explanation I have encountered.
