They marketed this movie as a reboot to make a dark-realistic spider man similar to the Dark Knight, but don't be deceived...
The only "dark" in this film is a fake dark shade in every shot and a grim Peter Parker that could be easily confused with a teenager full of angst and suicidal thoughts.
They re-tell the story that had been told not long ago and they surprisingly do it in a boring tedious way.
I think Andrew Garfield is a great actor but for some reason he's just awkward in this movie. Physically he does look like Peter Parker from the comics but his charisma is no longer there, he's very two-dimensional in this film, too grim and quiet, looks more like a psycho killer ready to snap.
The humor from the Tobbey Mcguire Franchise is just no here, it doesn't work, they try to deliver it but you can barely understand what Garfield is saying under the suit and it's not funny.
They criticized the Sam Reimy trilogy for being too colorful, but to be honest, it did look more like the comics, in fact it was the most loyal comic adaptation before the Avengers.
Like I said there's nothing really dark about this new film except for some fake shadowing in every shot, it is actually more unrealistic and cheesy, it's full of illogical details such as the digital access key to the lab, or the fake-looking mutant rat in the lab.
Not to mention, the CGI was really bad, how can you try to reboot a franchise and come up with cheaper CGI?, the franchise is downgrading...The mutant croc doctor looked so fake, etc.
Also the script is full of inconsistencies and illogical acts such as Peter Parker throwing the football like a rocket and nobody really flinching or suspecting anything, Mary Jane knowing his identity right away, etc.
The only good performance was Mary Jane's dad.
But most of all, there's absolutely no personality to Spiderman with the suit on, he's actually hard to see, Sam Reimy's trilogy was FAR BETTER, so stop lying.
